RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Members of the Roc Solid Foundation and Roe Roe’s Heroes came together to support a Randelman High School football coach’s family.

Shane Timmons is currently the head football coach at Randleman High School. He has taught at the school since 2009 and coached several sports during his time at the school.

The Timmons family’s lives changed forever in Sept. 2023, during the first week of the football season.

During a checkup for Timmons’ daughter Ophie, it was discovered that she had an Ependymoma brain tumor on her brain stem.

Ophie was rushed into surgery and the family has spent the last several months at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In fact, Timmons stepped away in the middle of the football team’s 5-0 start to the season to better attend to Ophie’s medical situation, according to the Randolph Record.

Now, the family is back home in Randolph County and is adjusting to their return.

Roc Solid Foundation and Roe Roe’s Heroes members came together to build a playset for Ophie and do their part to make that transition just a little bit easier.

“You know one thing that you realize pretty quickly when you’re facing childhood cancer is there’s a huge community behind you. So many organizations and so many people that have gone through it- You are supported,” Timmons said. “Your work community and your church family and everybody just comes to your aid so it’s definitely something you wanna pay forward in the future.”
