(NewsNation) — Paramedics were reportedly called to respond to Britney Spears over mental health concerns.

Sources close to Spears told NewsNation’s Paula Froelich that Spears is in a bad place mentally and in need of help, though she is not hospitalized at this time. There is reportedly talk of another 5150 hold, which is an involuntary admission to a psychiatric facility, being put in place.

Paramedics were called to the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where she was staying with her ex Paul Richard Soliz, after people reportedly heard her screaming and out of control in the hallways. Spears has denied dating Soliz but sources have said otherwise.

Photos show Spears walking outside with paramedics, appearing to be wearing only her underwear while wrapped in a blanket and holding a pillow to her chest. Spears was not transported by paramedics and returned home without Soliz.

Spears posted on social media, appearing to suggest the photos were of body doubles, and said she is getting stronger every day.

Britney Spears conservatorship

Spears, now 42, has returned to the public eye after being released from a conservatorship run by her family members. However, many have expressed concern over the former teen sensation’s social media postings, which have led some to suggest she is suffering from mental health issues.

The singer was placed under conservatorship in 2008, following several public episodes including shaving her head. The singer was hospitalized after losing custody of her two children to her ex-husband Kevin Federline which is when her father petitioned the court for the arrangement, citing her mental health.

The arrangement allowed those in charge of her guardianship to control all aspects of her life, including her appearance and finances. Spears continued to work while under the conservatorship but in 2019 began petitioning the court for changes. Her father stepped back that year and guardianship was given to a caretaker who had the right to limit Spears’ contact with people other than her court-appointed lawyer.

Free Britney

Fans began a #freeBritney movement and in 2020, Spears refused to work as long as her father remained on the conservatorship. In 2021, she petitioned the court for an end to the arrangement. In November 2021, the conservatorship ended, allowing Spears to have control over her life for the first time in nearly 14 years.

After her conservatorship ended, Spears married her fiance Sam Asghari but the couple divorced after a year, with the divorce settled on Thursday.

Fans began expressing concerns about Spears’ behavior on social media as she began life on her own. There are reports that her $60 million fortune is dwindling from overspending and that those around her are concerned about her mental health.

Her erratic social media posts have included a video of her dancing with knives and sparked conspiracy theories among her fans that her posts contain hidden clues. At times, Spears appears to have encouraged those theories.

Recently, those close to Spears have suggested her behavior is out of control, possibly because she is not taking her psychiatric medication.
