MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman has been charged after a man was found dead at Cherokee Park; she is accused of taking $60 from him and using it to buy two wing combos.

Kenyetta Hayes, 26, is charged with First-Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Robbery. Her bond has not been set.

Monday, officers responded to a shooting in the 2900 block of Filmore Avenue. They saw a man suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The next day, a woman told police that her daughter, Hayes, was a person of interest and took her to the Homicide Office.

Hayes reportedly told Memphis Police that she was at the Marathon gas station on Lamar Avenue when a man offered to give her $60 in exchange for oral sex.

According to Hayes, she never planned on performing the act. Instead, she was going to “hit a lick,” which meant rob him.

Reports state that when they got to the park, Hayes allegedly shot the man and took the cash. She then left the scene on foot.

Hayes told police she was “thirsty for money.” She spent $47 on two hot wing combos for herself and her boyfriend after the shooting, according to police.
