Woman killed after tree falls on home in Indiana during storms

CEDAR LAKE, Ind. — A woman was killed after a tree fell on a home during Monday night’s severe weather in Northwest Indiana.

Lake County officials were dispatched around 10:20 p.m. to a house in the 8900 block of West 141st Lane. According to authorities, a tree fell on the house.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as 44-year-old Laura Nagel. According to the coroner, only one person lived inside the home.

No other injuries have been reported. A death investigation is underway.

Multiple tornadoes were reported along the line of Monday’s storms that moved through Chicagoland, according to the National Weather Service, which planned to survey a number of areas following the reports.
