(NewsNation) —  In 2022, Realtor Antoine Amira interviewed Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann, the man who is accused of killing six women.

Amira exclusively told NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield that interviewing Heuermann was “very difficult” and that he “loved talking about himself.” 

During the interview, which was published to Amira’s YouTube channel called “Bonjour Realty,” Heuermann describes his favorite tool as a cabinet maker’s hammer.

“One of the things I learned from my father was furniture building; he was an aerospace engineer who built satellites and built furniture at home. I still build it in the same exact workshop. I have one tool that’s pretty much used in every job, and it’s actually a cabinet maker’s hammer. It is persuasive enough when I need to persuade something,” Heuermann says in the interview.

Amira jokingly asks “not someone?” Heuermann replies, “Something, and it always yields excellent results, and at the end of the project, whatever piece of furniture or what I’m working on, it always helps it come out beautifully.”

Amira said his first impression of Heuermann was that he was a “very strong man.”

“He gripped my hand, and it hurt,” Amira said Monday night on “Banfield.” “It was very difficult for me to drive the conversation. Because he’s an architect, he loved making a fool of the city, making a fool of the government. People with authority. Very narcissistic.”

Amira also picked up on a “strange relationship” between Heuermann and his daughter, who was there during the interview. He said “it felt like she was intimated (by Heuermann). I didn’t feel comfortable when he was talking to her.”

Heuermann, the man already suspected in the deaths of four women found near Long Island’s Gilgo Beach, was charged in the killings of two more women Thursday during his latest court appearance.

According to a bail application released Thursday morning by Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, Heuermann faces additional second-degree murder charges for the deaths of Jessica Taylor and Sandra Costilla.

Since 2010, police have been probing the deaths of at least 10 people, most of whom are sex workers, whose remains were discovered along an isolated highway not far from Gilgo Beach. Victims had gone missing over a span of at least 14 years. 

Heuermann, an architect who lived across a bay from where the bodies were found, was arrested last July in connection to the killings of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello and Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

At Thursday’s hearing, Heuermann pleaded not guilty to killing Taylor and Costilla and was ordered held without bail. Michael Brown, Heuermann’s attorney, told reporters after that Heuermann is “horrified by the new charges,” and “obviously in a bad place” regarding them.
