(NewsNation) — Three boys between the ages of 11 and 16 were taken into custody in connection with the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Texas.

The boys were dubbed the “Little Rascals” on account of their age, which was initially reported to be between 14 and 18 based on witness reports. The boys arrested turned out to be 11, 12 and 16 when they were apprehended.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which was assisted by the FBI’s Houston office in the investigation, the boys passed a teller a threatening note. The boys were thought to be armed, though they didn’t show a weapon.

Authorities released surveillance photos of the suspects, and the parents of two of the boys identified them to law enforcement, while the third came into contact with police following a fight and was recognized by officers.

The boys are charged with robbery by threat, which is a second-degree felony.

The FBI has not released the names of the trio because of their age. The boys got away with an unknown amount of cash and authorities have not confirmed whether the money was recovered or if there were any other people involved.
