(NewsNation) — More charges have been filed against a former Penn State professor accused of engaging in sex acts with his dog, according to media reports.
Police in June charged Themis Matsoukas with open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal and animal cruelty after they said he was caught on camera in the act at Rothrock State Forest in Pennsylvania, the New York Post reported.
After this initial investigation, police obtained search warrants for Matsoukas’ electronic devices. It was then that police said they allegedly discovered over 50 videos of him engaging in “various lewd acts” at Alan Seeger State Park, WJAC said.
A criminal complaint WJAC obtained said one of the videos allegedly showed Matsoukas standing on top of a park pavilion and performing sexual acts with a tree branch. Other videos, police said, also showed Matsoukas performing sexual acts inside Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources equipment located at the park.
Police said Matsoukas also performed sexual acts on himself with a lollipop on a picnic table as well as other sexual acts involving flowers and “fecal matter.”
Matsoukas was arraigned Monday morning on charges including open lewdness, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was released on unsecured bail, WJAC wrote.
Penn State University officials previously told WJAC that Matsoukas was placed on leave.
Defense lawyer Matt McClenahen told the Centre Daily Times in a text that it would be “inappropriate” for him to comment on the charges outside of court at this time.
But after an August 2023 court appearance reported on by the Huntingdon Daily News, McClenahen said media reports on the case misled the public and caused them to jump to conclusions about his client.
