NEW YORK (WJW) — Singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson came clean about her recent weight loss.
During an interview with “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg on Monday’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Clarkson admitted to taking a weight loss drug to lose weight.
In January, Clarkson told People magazine that diet and exercise helped her slim down. She made no mention of weight loss drugs.
Her confession came after complimenting Goldberg, 68, on her youthful appearance.
Goldberg said it’s all the weight she’s lost. “I lost almost two people,” she said. “I’m doing that wonderful shot that works for people who need some help.”
In March, Goldberg said she was using the type-2 diabetes drug Mounjaro to slim down.
“Mine is a different one than people assume,” Clarkson, 42, said. “I ended up having to do that, too, because my blood work got so bad.”
“Do you know what’s funny?” Clarkson said. “I didn’t plan on talking about this.”
“I didn’t see it,” Clarkson said of her weight gain.
“You don’t,” Goldberg agreed.
Clarkson said it wasn’t until she watched a birthday special that she planned to release that she realized she looked like “she’s about to die of a heart attack.”
Clarkson said at her heaviest, she weighed 203 pounds. She said she is 5 feet, 3 1/2 half inches tall. She has reportedly lost 60 pounds.
Goldberg said her moment was when she appeared in a movie last year and someone accused her of being in a fat suit. She said she weighed 300 pounds at her heaviest.
Clarkson said she was never insecure or unhappy about her weight gain.
She said her doctor “chased her” for two years to take something to help her lose weight, but she said she was leery because she has a thyroid problem.
Clarkson didn’t say which weight loss drug she was taking, but said it was not Ozempic.
“It’s something that aids in breaking down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn’t do it right,” she said.
