CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — Some experts are predicting the country may not have a winner in the presidential race on Tuesday night — an occurrence that’s sure to bring up parallels to the drawn-out legal battle that was the 2000 election.

That election came down to a recount in just a handful of Florida counties.

Five weeks later that case went to the United States Supreme Court and the decision in “Bush v. Gore” voted to halt the recount. The justices ruled that no alternative method of a recount could be established in a timely manner, and thousands of manual votes deemed too vague to count for either candidate were thrown out.

NewsNation’s Joe Donlon sat down with Al Gore’s traveling Chief of Staff Michael Feldman for more perspective on what happened behind the scenes. You can watch that interview in the player above.
