I just finished interviewing Nikki Haley. Our interview came just hours after Haley declared she would be staying in the presidential race until the end even if she loses her home state of South Carolina on Saturday.
“I know that everybody wants to talk about what states we’re going to win, we’re focused on South Carolina right now,” Haley told me.

By the way, Donald Trump’s campaign released a memo today contending Trump will have the necessary number of delegates to be the nominee by March 12 or March 19. The last lines of the memo are blistering: “The true ‘State’ of Nikki Haley’s campaign? Broken down, out of ideas, out of gas, and completely outperformed by every measure, by Donald Trump.”
Truckers for Trump?
A group of truck drivers supporting Trump contend they are planning to boycott driving freight shipments to New York City. The decision follows last week’s ruling where Trump was fined roughly $355 million (plus interest) in a New York civil fraud case.
Craig Fuller, founder and CEO of FreightWaves, joined the show Monday. He doesn’t think a boycott will amount to any sort of impact on the shipment of goods to New York but explained where that industry aligns politically: “It’s probably 80% Trump. I mean, this is a red-blooded, blue-collar industry, it is anti-labor … Trump stands for a lot of what they believe in.”

Question to consider: Is this just a one-off, or could we see calls for boycotts grow as Trump’s legal cases proceed further?
A Different Border Deal?
A centrist group in the House of Representatives introduced a bipartisan deal with military-only aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan coupled with tough border provisions. However, some Republicans are already signaling they would be against this version of a compromise bill.
Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), chair of the Freedom Caucus, joined The Hill to discuss the bill and how the border issue will be addressed going forward. He made clear that a sticking point continues to be around the issue of potentially sending tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine.
“Ukraine is not a member of NATO, we’re not sworn to defend them. Ukraine is not a democracy in the sense that that we are as a constitutional republic,” said Good.
Question to consider: As the prospects of any sort of deal continue to face opposition, will President Biden decide to take executive actions on the southern border? And if he does, will that make Republicans look weak on the issue?
