TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Gang-related violence across Haiti is causing major concerns for families who are looking to adopt.
They’re being met with extreme challenges getting children to America.
One family reached out to NewsNation affiliate WLFA with concerns that there hasn’t been enough support from the U.S. State Department to get their adopted daughter to a safe environment, and ultimately home to America.
“The current condition of the country warrants immediate action,” said Howell-Edgerly. “Families like ourselves are asking for emergency humanitarian aid parole and for these children to be approved to be evacuated out of harm’s way and out of Haiti as soon as possible.”
Angela Howell-Edgerly believes the U.S. State Department and other government agencies are deflecting and wants to get her voice heard around the globe.
“Some children have had to flee orphanages, including our daughter, due to surrounding gunfire and bullets penetrating walls,” said Howell-Edgerly.
