NEW YORK (News Nation) —People arriving in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey from eight additional states must quarantine themselves for 14 days amid the coronavirus pandemic, the governors of New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey announced Tuesday. This comes after the tri-state area already issued orders for 8 states last week.
The eight additional states are: California, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Tennessee, all of which are dealing with growing cases.
The orders, first issued last week, were already in place for Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah and Texas.
All the affected states have “growing community spread,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement. New York’s health department has defined a spread as 10 or more people testing positive per 100,000 residents.
The orders apply both to visitors and residents returning home from one of the listed states. Those found breaching the quarantine order in New York could face fines, Cuomo has said.
