FDNY lieutenant accused of strangling EMT during emergency call in Brooklyn: sources

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – An FDNY lieutenant is accused of strangling an EMT during a call for an unconscious person in Brooklyn on Saturday, according to sources.

Neal Francis, 47, was arrested and charged with strangulation, according to authorities.

Sources told NewsNation affiliate WPIX that police were responding to a call near Schenectady Avenue and Dean Street around 5:30 a.m. when an EMT got into an argument with Francis about how to handle a job.

That’s when Francis allegedly pinned the EMT by his neck against the ambulance, sources said. The EMT finished the job and checked himself into Kings County Hospital, according to sources.

Francis later turned himself in, sources said.
