(NewsNation) — A small plane carrying seven people made a hard landing on a Virginia street Friday.

Washington Dulles International Airport said in a statement that it received reports around 12:50 p.m. of a Southern Airways Express aircraft that landed off airport property on a nearby roadway.

An account of what happened from FlightAware shows the plane taking off from the airport, then landing just minutes later west of airport grounds.

“Responders from Loudoun County are managing the scene, and Dulles Airport remains open for takeoffs and landings,” the airport said. Highway crews urged nearby drivers to use alternative routes.

Southwest Airways Express CEO Stan Miller said in a statement that no one was injured, according to NewsNation local affiliate WAVY. The only damage that happened was to a guardrail on the right side of Loudoun County Parkway.

“All passengers are safe and sound. We are thankful to our pilots, who did exactly what they were trained to do — to put the safety of our passengers first,” Miller said. “We are working closely with the authorities to thoroughly investigate the situation.”

Passengers included four adults and a 15-year-old boy, Virginia State Police said, and the pilot was a 27-year-old Florida resident.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been notified of the incident, the Virginia State Police said.

Founded in 2013, Southwest Airways Express is based in Palm Beach, Florida, and serves 40 U.S. cities stretching from Nantucket Island in Massachusetts to Honolulu.
