(NewsNation) — The Las Vegas family that reported seeing aliens is locked down in their house, claiming they’re being threatened by people accusing them of an elaborate hoax.

Trespassing signs surround the area, and family members are “skittish, anxious and scared” — but NewsNation’s Nancy Loo says they’re standing by their original story.

On April 30, the family claimed something crashed in their backyard, prompting them to call 911 about “nonhuman” beings.

“They (have) shiny eyes and they’re not human,” Angel, a teenager in the family, said in the 911 call. “They’re 100% not human.”

Investigators have turned up no concrete answers in the case.

Although family members are now not taking interview requests, teenager Angel, who Loo previously talked to, has been active on social media, talking in detail about large aliens in his backyard — creatures that were also said to be spotted by his father and younger brother.

“I already said what I had to say, if you want to believe it, believe it,” Angel said in a video.

While the family has faced backlash, they’ve also found supporters — including a former police officer who’s now a local podcaster.

“Something happened over there. I honestly believe something happened,” the podcaster Doug Poppa said. “They saw something — what it was, I wasn’t there. I have no idea.”

“For people to come out, and blatantly say the family’s lying, what’s your evidence?” he added.

Loo spoke with neighbors to of the family who say they aren’t discounting what they had to say.

“I didn’t see it myself but, they believe what they saw. I’ll put it that way. I think they maybe just saw something that they just didn’t understand,” Frank Young said.

Neighbor Alicia Herndon said she wouldn’t call the family liars said “maybe, they just believe in different things than other people believe. I don’t think I have any aliens coming down to visit me…”

Police body camera footage from the Metro Las Vegas police footage shows a flash across the sky that night of the family’s sighting, adding intrigue to the mystery, NewsNation local affiliate KLAS reported.

The American Meteor Society says they are sure it was a meteor that caused that streak, with 21 reported sightings of it that night stretching across California, Nevada and Utah.

“We’re certain it was a meteor because of the duration of the event,” Robert Lunsford, of the American Meteor Society, said. “Most everybody reported it lasted between two and five seconds, and that’s much too fast to be a re-entering satellite or a rocket.”

Claims of a UFO, aliens and military activity have all been viewed in a different light since Pentagon whistleblower Dave Grusch, in an interview with NewsNation, alleged a covert crash retrieval program of non-human spacecraft.
